Apple Seeds iOS 5.1 Beta to Developers

Apple seems to have had a Cyber Monday surprise of its own lined up, releasing iOS 5.1 Beta (build 9B5117b) to developers this evening. We've updated an iPhone 4S of our own to 5.1, and thus far the update looks superficially identical to iOS 5.0.1. Baseband firmware on the iPhone 4S gets a rather notable update to 1.2.01-1 from 1.0.13.
The release notes are rather spartan, and the only major new feature in iOS 5.1 are new voice dictation features in text input views:
On supported devices, iOS automatically inserts recognized phrases into the current text view when the user has chosen dictation input. The new UIDictationPhrase class (declared in UITextInput.h) provides you with a string representing a phrase that a user has dictated. In the case of ambiguous dictation results, the new class provides an array containing alternative strings. New methods in the UITextInput protocol allow your app to respond to the completion of dictation.
There's no word on whether iOS 5.1 mitigates power-related issues that iPhone 4S users are still complaining of. We'll update if we see anything major changed in 5.1.

Do a full back up of your phone with ITunes. Click on restore and agree to restore and updates. You will still get the same iOS 5.0.1 with an updated version; last 3 digits are 406 and your baseband will be changed from 1.0.13 to 1.0.14Guspaz - Thursday, December 1, 2011 - link
A bug fix release, then. I'm hoping they fix wifi tethering on the 4S, which frequently stops advertising the SSID and needs to be turned off and on again before other devices can see it.Steve1010 - Friday, December 23, 2011 - link
AllApple has silently released a patch on IOS 5.0.1. The updated version is 5.0.1 (9A406). This a a second version of the IOS 5.0.1 will update your baseband from 1.0.13 to 1.0.14. Apple claims the updated version is to fix the "not a valid sim" issue. For testing only, I upgraded my 4s from iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) to 5.0.1 (9A406) and it did upgrade my baseband as well to 1.0.14. I think the current baseband 1.0.13 and lower might have bugs that a Dev. team might be able to soft unlock the 4s. Anyway, I have downgraded my IOS back down to 5.0.1(9A405) and yes it downgraded my baseband back to 1.0.13 as well. The reason it works like this because Apple still signs the IOS. Do your research prior to doing the above,so you don't lose your might be unlockabled baseband
