    "Inexpensive" being a relative term here. 802.11n is still waaaay cheaper than this or .AC
    Why is this stuff so expensive? : (

    Because they want to recoup the development cost, and make a profit. There's a high upfront cost to designing the chips, making the masks, building the fabs. People who see sufficient value in the new technology will be willing to pay. And people who don't, won't, and have access to something cheaper.
